Background

After graduating from university, I spent a number of years leading teams within grocery retail before being offered the exciting opportunity to join Ashdown Phillips in October 2021.

My role at Ashdown Phillips

As an Accounts Assistant I work alongside the Client Accountants to support them in providing brilliant service to our customers, liaising with Surveyors and Facilities Managers to ensure accurate accounting and reporting through communication and technical skills.

Our aim in Credit Control is to provide the best service we can for our clients and occupiers. We offer a friendly, consistent and personal service, backed by experience and understanding of the challenges and quirks of the property management field.

Passion

Outside of Ashdown Phillips I am a keen poker player, a Netflix addict and a voracious reader.

Background

I came to the UK is 2005, staring working in the security sector. After being asked to cover a Building Manager role for a few weeks, I decided this was the path I wanted to take and worked my way up to where I am now.

Background

Having spent 8 years in retail department store management roles, I took my first shopping centre job as Operations Manager at a shopping centre in Nottinghamshire back in 2007. I progressed into a Centre Manager position at a nearby shopping centre two years later and transferred to Ashdown Phillips in 2011. I headed the Shopping Centre and Facilities Management teams for a number of years before taking the role of Managing Director of Ashdown Phillips in 2018.

I am ultimately responsible for the service delivered by our business and for the strategy and future direction of Ashdown Phillips. I work closely with the other Directors to ensure we maintain a first class reputation and strive be the commercial property managing agent that clients, service providers and prospective employees want to work with!

Background

I started as an in-house Facilities Manager in 1991. Along the way I studied and picked up IOSH & BIFM membership and progressed through todays CIWFM. I have worked in many industries and for many companies including; J D Edwards, Vodafone, Johnson Controls, Vail Williams, Gardiner & Theobald, Thames Valley Science Park, and Ascot Racecourse.

I am the Facilities Manager for R+ providing day-to-day Facilities Management support to a flagship 5 floor building with a number of demanding tenants.

I worked as a Resources Manager within a shopping centre in Wigan for 14 years, my main role being to deal with staff and manage the budget and accounts. 

My role at Ashdown Phillips

I am the Operations Assistant at Middleton Shopping Centre. I help the Centre Manager with the day-to-day running of the centre. I also deal with tenant liaison, including the collation of tenant trading figures. 

Passion

Within the work environment, I love dealing with the staff. I enjoy building relationships and getting to know them.  

Outside of work, my passions include going to the gym, doing circuit-based routines, and running road races. I have taken part in numerous 10k’s and half marathons.

I have always worked in a retail environment, having worked at a high street jewellers for 11 years, working up from a Sales Associate to Store Manager.

My role at Ashdown Phillips

My role involves a lot of different tasks, some of which are invoicing, liaising with staff, contractors, and tenants, building relationships with tenants, collecting data, creating the bookings for out Community Zone, and assisting our Centre Manager, Operations Manager, and Marketing Manager.

Background

I’ve worked at the Custard Factory for just over 9 years, going from being a doorman for the events to becoming the site security manager. This was my last role in security before getting my promotion to Assistant Operations Manager for Ashdown Phillips.

Maintaining the up keep of an 18 acre estate in Birmingham city centre and managing the maintenance team and the needs of a large site where lots of issues can occur daily.

Background

With a background in retail marketing for companies, I joined Birchwood Shopping Centre in Warrington in August 2021.

As part of the management team, I am responsible for the marketing, events and social media and also tenant liaison.

The positive reactions to my work, from solving occupier issues, to seeing a great response to a social media post I have written, to seeing the smiles on the faces of children at an event I have organised.

I oversee the Facilities Management team for London and the South, I am responsible for the onsite delivery of services across the portfolio as well as training, mentoring and developing my team. I work closely with the Senior Facilities Management leadership team to deliver the FM strategy to support the business.

Following completion of my MBA in London, I’ve had over 4 years experience in commercial property management including shopping centres prior to joining Ashdown Phillips. I also have experience working in roles involving retail, customer services and telecommunications.

I am an Event Co-Ordinator at The Terrace in Leeds. I work closely with our clients ensuring that their meetings, conferences, training days or even BBQ events run as smoothly as possible.

Outside of work you will find me on court playing netball.

As well as supporting our wider team, I assist all departments with any administration needs that may arise, including diary and travel management, creating client reports, organising events and looking after the day to day running of our head office.

I previously worked as an Aircraft Charter Broker, predominantly in the executive jet market arranging private charters all around the world.

I originally made jewellery for a living and gave that up to travel. When I returned home, I began working at Ashdown Phillips and have progressed over the years to my current role as Senior Client Accountant.

I completed a structural and civil engineering degree but decided to follow my parents into surveying.  I have worked for various managing agents and clients giving me an extensive knowledge of property management and landlord and tenant.  I always enjoy working with colleagues to solve challenging problems whether they are legal or practical.

Driven by

As a family most summer holidays are spent in Trekker, our 35-year-old campervan.  We always agree a plan, but Trekker does break down and plans have to change.  It is the same with property management – you make a plan but have to be ready to react to unexpected changes.

I studied Criminology at Undergraduate level and then Terrorism Studies to Masters level before falling into the world of Facilities Management. I have worked in various Commercial and Retail FM environments since finishing University.

I currently manage the day to day operations at several properties in London and assist on the delivery of Development to Management projects.

I joined Ashdown Phillips in 2017 as a PA to 4 of the Directors. After returning to work following maternity leave, there was a need for more administration support on the HR side of the business following a period of rapid growth and I now work alongside our HR Business Partner assisting on a variety of projects.

I help to coordinate our recruitment, induction process and training and development projects as well as supporting the wider team with day-to-day administration when needed.

I am one of the Founding Directors and Company Secretary of Ashdown Phillips. I act as a link between all teams within the business, coordinating and encouraging robust application of policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with best practice.

I was previously Reception Manager for a Hair Loss Clinic in London, I spent 10 years working there where I gained a lot of admin and customer service experience.

My role here started on Front of House. When an opportunity to go onto the accounts side of the business cropped up, I was willing to give it a shot.

After studying Nursing & Midwifery at university in Australia, I got into travel buying when I moved to the UK. I have always been interested in accounting, and after being a head of several companies throughout my travel career I wanted to explore this avenue in a role at a company with a good work/life balance.

Here in my role at Ashdown Phillips I provide excellent interpersonal skills in a client facing setting to all of out occupiers and members of the public alike who come in to use our café area, to answer and problem solve any queries they may have. Booking and overseeing all event operations and maintaining all of our social media accounts.

I am extremely passionate about working as part of a team providing excellent customer service.

My career started 25 years ago working as part of a dynamic and successful in house FM team at a market leading games software company. I’ve since worked for a leading analytical software company and Ashdown Phillips. I’ve had the opportunity to deliver professional facilities services on an extensive and varied range of commercial properties from office buildings to innovative research parks and business centres. My experiences have allowed me to develop & build a strong and effective FM skill set that is still expanding today.

After my college studies I started off as a customer service advisor in a call centre. A couple of years later I then worked as a Property Co-ordinator for a residential property management company for 2 years. I decided later on that I wanted to start a career in accounts, and was successful in obtaining a Treasury Assistant role as Ashdown Phillips in 2019 where I have progressed from Treasury Assistant to Treasury Accountant, then to Treasury Team Leader.

I started as a secretary at a retail agency firm and whilst there I realised I quite liked commercial property so moved on to work as a property technician. Most of my career has been with my previous company, I started as Customer Service, then into PA to Directors role, then across to HR Executive and finally becoming a Benefits & Payroll HR Executive. Upon finishing school I joined British Land and also qualified as an accountant, I remained at British land heading up the Service charge team before moving to Morley Fund Management becoming a fund accountant. My next venture was as an associate (Client Accountant) working for Knight Frank for 5 years before joining Ashdown Phillips.

I head up the Clients Accounts Team which now consists of over 30 people.

As the Operations Manager at the Digbeth Estate, I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the facilities side of the estate and also Line Manager for our Reception team.

When I first started working, I was lucky enough to be trusted to count store floats, giving me an insight into the store’s profits. From there I knew that I just really enjoyed having that responsibility and I wanted a greater understanding of how money works in a business environment, leading me to start studying accountancy.

I am responsible for loading invoices, paying suppliers, allocating cash that comes into the business and creating reports.

I have recently taken up scrapbooking/ journaling which I find relaxing. I also really like history and love visiting old buildings and learning about the history of them and the history of how life used to be.

I originally studied Supply Chain Management and prior to joining Ashdown Phillips, my career started as a category buyer for a French manufacturing company specialised in hydraulics.

I work alongside our surveyors in a supporting role; I am involved in producing various reports to send to our clients and tenants, as well as a number of diverse administrative duties. I have also started getting more involved with the surveying side of the business.

Senior Associate Director based in Manchester responsible for the management of a number of key instructions for the business. In addition, I also responsible for client management on a number of instructions.
