Ladysmith Shopping Centre Assistant Manager takes home SCEPTRE Award

Congratulations to Samantha Robinson, Assistant Centre Manager at Ladysmith Shopping Centre, who has been named Young Achiever of the Year at the prestigious SCEPTRE Awards which recognise the best people and practice in the retail destination industry.

Samantha was nominated for the incredible impact she has made over her two years at the Ashton-under-Lyne centre. Her engaging and hands-on approach has led to some amazing results for the site, including a service charge reduction of -7.2%, an increase in retailers attending meetings and creating a great working relationship with the local community, including playing an important role as the Ashton Town Team secretary.

Sam has also been key in re-invigorating the scheme’s events schedule, successfully launching the Amazing Ashton Awards, holding the centre’s first ever Halloween zombie experience and making sure that fundraising is top of the agenda throughout events.

The awards were announced at a virtual ceremony on Thursday 26th November, with the winners chosen by a panel of industry experts. The judges said of Samantha: “Her clear vision to revive and improve all aspects of the centre is inspiring for someone so young.” And: “her willingness to take on a wider role stands out.”

As well as being named Young Achiever, Samantha also received recognition in the Manager of the Year (Small Centre) category, where she received a Highly Commended acknowledgement from the judging panel.

As well as Samantha’s win, the newest member of the Edmonton Green Shopping Centre team, Retail Liaison Manager Rebecca Bird, was named Manager of the Year (Medium Centre) for her work in her previous role at the Mall, Walthamstow. Ashdown Phillips also received a nomination in the Operations Manager of the Year category, where Lee Ellis of Middleton Shopping Centre in Manchester was shortlisted.

Well done to all!
