The Bourse, Leeds

We have not been looking after The Bourse for very long so when we started to list the things we have done, we were pretty surprised at what we have achieved.

From day one we have focused on the things that will make the biggest impact. Some projects were kick started for delivery over the longer‐term while others were implemented for immediate, impactful change.

Our ability to prioritise meant that on day one we identified significant issues with the heating and cooling systems. By the end of the day, thanks to a responsive M&E provider, it was like we had known the system for years. We have agreed a programme of works with our client to completely refurbish all HVAC systems and passenger lifts. In the meantime, we are working hand-in-hand with the M&E team to make the system as effective as possible.

Day two saw us introducing a front-of-house service. We overhauled the main reception area and installed a service that was able to deal with occupier queries, manage access and distribute the mail. These sound like small things, but they have made a huge difference and cost little.

By the end of the week, our focus was on cleaning, so we placed a new contract to ensure the internal space was as well regarded as the outside; The Bourse is an impressive building, and one that deserves to be treated with respect.

By the time a month had passed, we were hosting our first occupier reception. This is where we listen and learn. We are very much the new kids on this block and we want to be respectful of the building’s past while embracing its future. We are finding that our high standards are a perfect partner for a Grand Old Lady of Leeds.
