Ladysmith Shopping Centre launches Sunflower Lanyard Scheme to assist those with hidden disabilities

Ladysmith Shopping Centre in Ashton-under-Lyne are continuing their work in building awareness of hidden disabilities by promoting the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme as part of this year’s Purple Tuesday event.

The Sunflower Lanyard Scheme was launched in 2016 and is a subtle but visible sign that enables staff to recognise that the wearer (or someone with them) may require some extra help, time or assistance. The aim of Purple Tuesday is to make customer-facing businesses more aware of the challenges faced by disabled customers and of the opportunities created by improving accessibility, inspiring them to make practical changes to improve the disabled customer experience.

This year, staff at Ladysmiths continued their support of the scheme by offering occupiers free in-house Autism Awareness training, wearing purple vests and handing out free sunflower lanyards to those who felt they would benefit from the scheme.

Well done to all at Ladysmiths for their dedication to improving the customer experience for all visitors to the centre.
