Ashdown Phillips & Partners Achieves Planet Mark Net Zero Committed Certification and Announces their Net Zero Targets

We are delighted to announce we are now a Planet Mark Certified Net Zero Committed Business. Reaching this milestone in our sustainability journey means we have measured our total carbon footprint to understand our net zero baseline, set near-term and long-term net zero targets, and have worked with Planet Mark to establish a Net Zero Transition Plan to meet our decarbonisation goals.

As a Planet Mark Certified Net Zero Committed Business, we are committed to annual measurement and reporting our Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions* for our full organisational boundary. To ensure we stay on track with our decarbonisation goals, we will review and disclose progress against our Net Zero Transition Plan, annually.

Planet Mark’s Net Zero Certification Programme aligns with the principles of the Science Based Targets initiative Corporate Net Zero Standard, the world’s only framework for corporate net zero target setting in line with climate science. We are delighted to announce the following near-term and long-term net zero targets that we are working towards:

· 42% absolute reduction in Scope 1, 2 and select Scope 3 emissions from a 2023/24 baseline by 2030

· Suppliers responsible for 67% of Purchased Goods and Services emissions to set net zero targets by 2030

· 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions from a 2023/24 baseline by 2040

We are proud to be taking the necessary steps to progress through Planet Mark’s Net Zero Certification Programme and achieve net zero. As part of Ashdown Phillips & Partners longstanding commitment to becoming more sustainable, we have been measuring with Planet Mark for four years.

Andrew Wraight, CEO, said “Committing to net zero was a clear decision for us – it’s the right thing to do, and it aligns with our ambition to lead on ESG. Sustainability continues to be embedded in our culture, and we’re proud to have the full backing of our Board of Directors as we take this forward for our business. It will also allow us to take these learnings into the buildings we manage as clients, occupiers and service partners make their own commitments to net zero.”

Gary Metcalf, Director & Head of ESG and Design for Management, said “Our net zero commitment is fully aligned with our broader strategy to lead on ESG within our business and the buildings we manage. By incorporating best practice in building optimisation, including smart building technologies, energy efficient systems, and proactive maintenance, we can drive down emissions for our clients and occupiers while enhancing performance and value for our clients.”

Siân Stephens, Associate Director – ESG, said “We’re pleased to reach this point in our net zero journey and formally announce our targets. Now the real work begins – partnering with suppliers to cut emissions and reducing business and commuter travel, all without compromising delivering brilliant property management. We’re focused on turning ambition into action.”

*Scope 1 emissions: The emissions from sources that a company creates directly. E.g., from burning fuel in gas boilers and in company-owned vehicles.

Scope 2 emissions: The emissions a company creates indirectly, associated with the energy it purchases. E.g., electricity.

Scope 3 emissions: The emissions that are not produced by the company itself, but by those within the company’s value chain. Scope 3 is split into 15 categories and include business travel, waste, procurement of goods and services.
