Middleton Shopping Centre is passionate about the environment and is currently instigating many green initiatives in the Centre. This passion does not stop at the Shopping Centre doors though – it extends out into Middleton too.
To coincide with World Environmental Day, on Wednesday, 5 June, members of the Middleton Management Team were joined staff from McBride and Springhill Hospice in a Litter Pick in and around McBride in Middleton. As well as trying to improve the local eco system, the Litter Pick was also to raise much needed funds for The Springhill Hospice, whose motto is “Go Green” as part of their big 30th birthday celebrations.
This year, volunteers, who are giving up their dinner breaks to raise money for the hospice, complete a slip to say where the litter was picked and how much was collected and McBrides donates £1.00 for each of the slips handed in.
After collecting litter at McBrides, the Middleton Team when relocated and picked litter from outside the shopping centre. The total raised is yet to be confirmed but a huge congratulations to our Centre Manager, Anna Ramsden for organising.
