A huge congratulations to Katy Marlow, Events Co-ordinator at Farnborough Business Park for being awarded July’s Dare Devil prize for co-ordinating a fantastic series of summer events.

In June, Katy persuaded 50 occupiers to participate in Sleep Out Under the Hangar, where they spent the night outside with only a sleeping bag and cardboard box for shelter, raising £2,556.49 for local homelessness charity Step by Step.

The Mini Twilight Challenge, supported by the Community Matters Partnership Project, saw 40 one to seven year olds take part in a fun run in aid of projects supporting young people in the local area. The children ran, skipped, cycled and scootered their way around the circuit, raising a brilliant £1,800.

The first ever Summer Food Festival took place in July, where occupiers were treated to food trucks, giant Jenga and badminton games and a big screen showing the day’s Wimbledon matches. All of that plus some glorious sunshine added up to a great afternoon for all who attended and a staggering £4,260 for the local Phyllis Tucker Hospice.

As well as raising a phenomenal amount of money for local causes, Katy has also doubled the number of attendees at park events. Well done to Katy for being a true community and charity champion and fully embodying the ‘Dare to be Brilliant’ spirit!
