On Saturday 10th February, an ice sculpture with a diamond ring inside was unveiled at Market Gates Shopping Centre.

Customers were invited to take part in the competition, which was to guess the date and time the ice would melt, releasing the ring for one lucky winner.

“The competition was hugely popular – there were over 700 entries and customers even headed back to the centre to check on progress.

The ring was finally freed at 7:02am on Tuesday, 13th February.

The lucky winner was a shopper named Margaret, who guessed it would fall at 6:52am. She was over the moon with the prize. The ring was kindly donated by F.Hinds who presented it to Margaret with our Deputy Centre Manager, Dee Greenwood.
