Wellbeing initiatives help Ashdown Phillips to Step Into Spring

January and February can often be a bit gloomy at the best of times, so this year here at Ashdown Phillips we decided to make sure we took time to focus on some positive activities to keep us going until spring arrived!

It can be harder to find the motivation to get out and about when it’s cold and dark, so we signed up for the Step Into Spring challenge, where we pledged to try and walk the 4,113.3 miles between our properties (and back again!) throughout February. While snow and storms meant that the weather wasn’t always on our side, we hit our target just as the sun started to show as we moved into March.

February also saw us spreading some joy for Random Acts of Kindness Day. As well as encouraging our staff to think about kindness and connection, we also helped to put a smile on the faces of the essential retailers at Orbital Retail Park, delivering luxury chocolates from their landlord, Clearbell, to say thank you for all their work staying open during the pandemic.

In London, our team at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre created a wellbeing wall to keep themselves positive in the workplace and to remind them of all that their team were achieving during a difficult period. A great example of how small actions can make a big difference in the workplace.

There’s nothing that cheers us up more than our pets, so for National Love Your Pet Day many of our sites set up a pet photography competition for their occupiers, encouraging them to send in their favourite pictures of their pets. Head over to our Instagram page if you want to see the pets of Ashdown Phillips!

Finally, we kicked off March with World Book Day, with several sites setting up book swaps, community libraries and virtual book groups for their visitors and occupiers.

It’s been great to see our teams get involved with some fantastic initiatives throughout the start of 2021, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
