Surveyors
Our Surveying team is expert in the truest sense of the word. Some might say they have been around the block, but we prefer to call them wise. Whichever way you look at it, they are experienced professionals who know their stuff.
They are responsible for the traditional surveying jobs in the properties we manage like setting budgets, client and occupier liaison, service charge management and so on, but they also work incredibly closely with our FM and Accounting teams. This approach is exactly what we like to see: a connected team that works as one.
Anthony Springle
Director - Surveying
Since May 2017, I have been a Director based at the Carnaby Street Office, London. Before being promoted, I was an Associate Director for almost four years.
I have experience in managing complex and problematic sites and resolving issues by working as a team to do a brilliant job. I am happiest at work when I am working together with my colleagues or when a difficult issue is resolved. I love that we all enjoy our jobs; a happy team will go the extra mile.
It is important to spend as much time as I can with my young family as they grow up very fast; we enjoy going on camping trips. I play golf and cycle when I can.
Daniel Chalkin
Senior Surveyor
I am based at the Manchester Office. I believe that everything in life should be approached by being honest, having integrity and taking pride in what you do. These values come across in everything Ashdown Phillips does and are some of the key reasons why the company has been so successful.
Outside of work, I’m a keen theatre goer, happy at the top of a mountain as well as 40m underwater and I enjoy travelling abroad.
Fergus Payne

When I’m not in the office, I like to spend time with my friends exploring London and keeping up with the rugby, F1 and golf.
The memory of my father inspires me in both my work and everyday life. He taught me the fundamental life lessons which I believe have got me to where I am today.

Jack Leckey
Graduate Surveyor
I joined Ashdown Phillips in October 2020 after finishing my degree in Real Estate Management at Liverpool John Moores University and I am based in Manchester as a Graduate Surveyor.
I was interested in the property sector from a young age, partly inspired by family members who have worked in the industry. It’s great to be part of a company that shares my values and passion for property, and I believe that our transparency and attentiveness to both clients and occupiers is what helps us to provide a great service.
Outside of the office I enjoy road cycling, especially having moved to a new city, as it helped me to settle in and get to know the area. I also really enjoy travelling and have previously backpacked in Thailand by myself for a month and Interrailed with friends from Sweden to Croatia.
James Steadman

I am a Director, based at Pippingford. I have been doing this job since May 2017. I joined in 2015 as an Associate Director. Throughout my 20-year career I have dealt with a diverse range of properties; from prime shopping centres to single-let industrial units.
Working at Ashdown Phillips, you know that the broad base of experience across the team means we can solve any problem. I’m inspired by resolving the most complex problems we face and being appreciated when I do!
I love working here because we work hard but have fun too. Getting together for our summer BBQ and at our Christmas party makes a close-knit team; I always know they will be there to help me.
Joseph Baugh
Director - Surveying
I joined Ashdown Phillips in 2013 as a Senior Surveyor before being promoted to Associate Director then Senior Associate Director in 2018 and Director in 2019.
I love my colleagues and the culture of the company and I believe that to be brilliant we should be collaborative, transparent and work towards a common goal. We are very much a team and knowing that you have such strong teammates gives you a feeling that together you can tackle anything.
When not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and running around after my toddler son! I enjoy watching and playing football and have recently taking up Yoga to combat the ageing process!
