Multiple winners named as our August Dare Devils

Following a month which saw some extraordinary responses to challenging situations, we are delighted to announce three winners of the August Dare Devil prize.

Our first is Marie Gribben, Centre Manager at Middleton Shopping Centre, Manchester, for her calm and professional reaction to an incident where a member of the onsite security team received multiple wounds. On hearing about the incident, Marie rushed to the centre to assist all parties and offer support wherever possible. Over the following days, Marie continued to support to those affected, including arranging a group counselling session for staff members. As well as looking after her site team, Marie also made sure that all stakeholders were kept informed regarding the subsequent investigations and provided updates on the security guard’s recovery.

Our second winner is Assistant Facilities Manager Matt Goodey, who has recently taken on his own multi-site portfolio and has been praised for his proactive and positive approach. He hit the ground running with outstanding work in creating a Best in Class environment at Heathrow Approach in Slough, researched and tendered electric vehicle charge points, worked with the front of house team to create a concierge service and made sure the site was prepared for the upcoming agent’s launch. On top of this, Matt delivered excellent reporting, winning the confidence of the client and major occupier.

Our third Dare Devil is Marie Kyriacou-Edwards, Operations Manager at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, London. Upon hearing of a serious incident that had taken place at the centre where two youths were wounded, Marie did not hesitate to complete the 60 mile round trip to site to support the onsite team, including the security and control room staff who were required to provide the police with all relevant information as soon as possible. Thanks to Marie’s support, the handover with the police was completed promptly and she was also able to keep all relevant personnel informed with full details of the incident.

Finally, Abs Zerrouk (pictured) of Maverick Barbers at Middleton Shopping Centre was named as Dare Devil Partner, for his brave response to the aforementioned incident at the centre. On hearing what was happening, Abs quickly rushed out to assist the wounded guard, running into a nearby store to collect towels with which to slow the bleeding. Along with others, he stayed with the guard to apply pressure to the wound and keep him conscious until the emergency services arrived. On arrival, the paramedics commented that Ab’s quick thinking likely saved the guard’s life.

A huge thank you to all our winners for their bravery and professionalism.
