Middleton's new bee-utiful garden project is started!

The Middleton Shopping Centre are championing all things sustainable and have many projects planned for this year.

One of their green initiatives is the creation of an environmental garden to encourage insects and bees to the Middleton Shopping Centre.

“We are now starting the physical task of creating the garden,” says Anna Ramsden, Manager of the Middleton Shopping Centre “and this week, with the help Jay Mullen, Landscaper, Alistair Clayton and James Wheeler – both from Aston Services, we started on the ground work and preparing the soil for planting.

“Working with the Lighthouse Project, we are building a range of bird and bat boxes which will be hung in the trees along Limetrees Road as well as insect hotels and bug boxes,” continues Anna. “With all these plans coming to fruition, we recently realised that we did not have a name for the Garden and asked our Facebook Followers, to suggestion for a name and logo for it.

The winning name – “Our Bee-utiful Garden” epitomises what we want to achieve and the suggestion, inspired by the Manchester Bee.
